Shot Put Quiz:-

Shot put is a track and field event. The shot, typically made of iron or brass, weighs 7.26 kg (16 lbs) for men and 4 kg (8.8 lbs) for women. The event tests the athlete’s strength, technique, and explosive power.

The competition begins with athletes standing in a designated area called the shot put circle, which has a diameter of 2.135 meters. They must deliver the shot from within this circle, utilizing a technique that can either be the glide or the spin method. In the glide technique, athletes start at the back of the circle, shifting their weight forward to propel the shot. In the spin technique, they rotate within the circle before releasing the shot, leveraging centrifugal force for added distance.

Athletes are allowed three to six attempts, depending on the competition format, and the best throw from each athlete is recorded. The distance is measured from the front edge of the circle to the nearest point of impact on the landing area, which is usually a sandpit.

Shot put is featured in major athletic competitions, including the Olympics, World Championships, and various collegiate events. The event has a rich history, dating back to ancient times, and has evolved into a highly technical sport that requires a combination of strength, speed, and precise execution.
